EXIM Bank Limited also known as “Exim” started it’s operation in Bangladesh from 1999 as private commercial Bank. It started functional operation in Bangladesh as “Bengal Export Import Bank limited” on 3 August, 1999 but after three months the bank name was renamed to “Exim Bank Limited” on 16 November,1999. EXIM is the short form of Export and Import. So in detail Exim Bank Limited is called “Export Import Bank Limited“. Late Mr. Shahjahan Kabir was the Founder Chairman of EXIM Bank Limited, who had a long dream of floating a commercial bank which would contribute to the socio-economic development in Bangladesh. on July, 2004 it switched over from conventional banking to a Shariah based Islami Banking system.
