Rahima Food Corporation Limited (RFCL) was formed as a private limited company in 1990 and then was converted into a Public Limited Company in 1996. It issued shares to public during IPO in 1997. Today, Rahima Food Corporation Ltd. is considered to be a major edible oil and vegetable ghee producing company in Bangladesh. With good quality products today, it serves millions of consumers and is most trusted name among health conscious community in Bangladesh. Its corporate office is in Dhaka and factories are located at Uttar Rupshi, Rupgonj, and Narayangonj.

Rahima Food mainly produces Soyabeen Oil, Palm Oil and Vegetable Ghee. In 2011, its edible oil manufacturing and packing installed capacity was 66,000 MT and 45,000 MT respectively. While it utilized only 18500 MT capacity, hence there is a great scope for expansion. It also has 16,000 MT manufacturing capacity to produce vegetable ghee. Company has enhanced its manufacturing and packing capacity to 220 MT/Day from 150 MT/Day. It’s all manufacturing plants are highly automated and fully integrated to produce hygienic products.

At present country is importing around one million tons of edible oils from Indonesia and Malaysia and hence there is a great scope for RFCL to ramp up its capacity to cut down the country’s import bill. Today in Bangladesh, there are only 18 automated and integrated plants to produce edible oil which refines about 70% of palm oil and around 30% of soya bean oil. Altogether this plant produces around one million tones which fulfill 50% of current requirements.

Huge domestic requirement is reflected in growth in sales which rose to Tk. 1353 Million from Tk. 376 Million and its net profit roses to Tk. 10 Million from Tk. 6 Million. Company today enjoys handsome EPS of 5.42 and NAV of 44.99 in this turbulent and uncertain economy. Company has plans to gear up its production capacity so as to increase its sales and profit along with improving its plant operating capacity.

Rahima food’s major challenge today lies in increasing share of branded edible oil in the country which currently is around 4% to 5% compared with loose oils. Rural population needs to be educated and to understand the use hygienic oil by establishing proper communication channel to them. Company aims to improve the health of the people by this and hence reduce their health hazards and cost on medications. Rahima Food Corporation with its noble efforts and good social network will definitely succeed in penetrating branded oil at affordable prices to the people of Bangladesh.
